A S106 local connection criteria applies where applicants must have a connection to the district of Torridge in one of the following ways:

• Resident in Torridge for six out of the last 12 months, or three out of the last five years

• In permanent full or part time (min 16hrs) employment for a minimum of 6 months. This may include the need to move to the district in connection where commuting from the persons’ existing home is deemed as unreasonable by the Council.

• Have family connection in the district defined as the applicant or member of the households Parents, adult children or siblings for the past five years

• Having immediate relatives (parents, non-dependent children or siblings) who have lived for a continuous period of five years & where there has been shown to have been frequent contact, commitment or dependency. Other categories or relationships may be considered including Foster relationships

• Other such special circumstances which create a link to the District (not including a residence in hospital, armed forces accommodation, holiday let or rehabilitation facility) & having being verified by the Council as having such special circumstances & this may include the need to reside medical support or some other form of special support.

If no one is found with the Torridge District connection, a connection to Devon will be considered in the next instance.

Successful applicants will be required to complete Westwards application form, provide proof of local connection, send in documentation to do a financial assessment & references will be applied for before a formal offer will be made.
