News

Most partner landlords in Devon Home Choice require new tenants to pay rent in advance before moving into their new home. Please click here for details of which landlords require rent in advance, how much and whether there are any exceptions (e.g. for households on benefits).

Some existing council or housing association tenants will have their housing benefit reduced by the so-called 'bedroom tax'

From the summer the maximum amount of benefit you will be able to receive will be:

- £500 per week for single parents or couples (with or without children)

- £350 per week for single people without children

If you're affected, your Housing Benefit will go down to make sure that the total amount of benefit you get isn't more than the cap level. For more information (e.g. what benefits are included and who won't be affected) please click here.
